Mies van der Rohe Award 2009


Branimir Medić and Pero Puljiz, de Architekten Cie., have been nominated for the prestigious Mies van der Rohe Award 2009 – the official prize of the European Union for contemporary architecture. The nomination concerns the recently completed apartment building New Amsterdam in the Mahler 4 area of the Amsterdam Zuidas development and Villa Meindersma in Haaksbergen dating from 2007.

The European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award was created in 1987 and has since then been presented to architectural superstars such as Zaha Hadid and Rem Koolhaas. This biannual distinction is given to recent works of architecture which are characterised by ‘conceptual, aesthetical and technical excellence’.
