Opening Le Maire Arnhem

On tuesday March 29 the new headquarters of Cito, based in the building Le Maire in Arnhem, was opened by Queen Beatrix. The opening was marked by the unveiling of a work of art by local artist Ineke Hans. The sculpture, symbolising the task of Cito, is placed in the lobby of the building.

The triangular building at the Amsterdamseweg comprises a total of 12.500 square metres and is part of the project ‘Arnhem Centraal’ which regenerates the area around the railway station. Literally, Le Maire sits on the edge of this new development and the so-called Burgemeesterswijk with its neo-classical villas and green spaces. This contrasting context is the source of inspiration for the varied elevations which fits in with their neighbours. The more austere south façade borders on the railway line and the new station whereas the elevations facing the Burgemeesterswijk are more playful. Le Maire is developed by Eurocommerce, who has sold the complex to the present owner/occupier.

The design is by Branimir Medić & Pero Puljiz,
de Architekten Cie.
