Pero Puljiz graduated cum laude from the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Zagreb, Croatia, in 1987. He worked together with Branimir Medić for various architecture firms in Zagreb. In 1990 they continued their studies at the Berlage Institute in Amsterdam, where they attained Master of Excellence in Architecture degrees in 1992. During their studies they received an honourable mention for the harmonization of Yokohama’s city centre and port.

Pero Puljiz worked with Kees Christiaanse Architects & Planners at O.M.A.’s ‘IJ-oevers atelier’ in Amsterdam and then joined de Architekten Cie. as a designer. In 1995 he won second prize in the Prix de Rome, and together with Branimir Medić he co-founded the Medić + Puljiz architecture bureau, which was affiliated with de Architekten Cie. Having collaborated with Cie. for a few years they both became partners in this bureau in 1998.

In 1999 they received an honourable mention for their design for the Contemporary Art Museum in Zagreb and in 2003 they won the international competition for the Cultural and Administrative Complex in Montreal, Canada. Their work ranges from detached houses and housing projects to large offices and mixed-use projects such as the Menzis headquarters in Groningen and the Mahler 4 residential tower in Amsterdam’s Zuidas development.

At the moment, Pero Puljiz is working on the design for the Radisson five-star hotel near Dubrovnik in Croatia.
