Heineken Music Hall, Amsterdam Zuidoost
The Heineken Music Hall is a highly efficient box for pop concerts. The core of the building is a ‘black box’ performance space. This ‘box within a box’ was designed for a whole range of productions and events, and it can hold up to 6,000 people. Lorries can unload within the hall itself. For the public, everything is geared to optimal circulation. All kinds of service facilities are coupled to the circuit around the hall. The simple, sturdily designed features create a festive atmosphere. The steel-frame balconies to the sides of the hall lend it intimacy. The big coloured panels on the walls of the lobby and the massive wall of mirrors at the public entrance reinforce the ‘lounge’ ambiance.
