Spazio shopping centre, Zoetermeer

In the middle of the new shopping centre, a square demarcated by four corner towers accommodating apartments and offices, there is a discus-shaped gym set above the shopping precinct. Adjacent to this, on the roof of the shopping complex, space has been set aside for other sports facilities. These amenities enhance the area’s functional mix, which besides housing and offices also includes restaurants and cafés and parking facilities. Spazio is therefore the bustling link between the Centrum West public transport hub and the old centre. The combination of linear and flowing forms, the diversity of the materials employed, and the different textures of the façades along with fenestration in various proportions generate a variegated look.
