Oceanium, Stralsund

The Oceanium Maritime Museum in Stralsund is a two-storey construction, with the 'water world' section on the ground floor and the educational section and public facilities in the top part of the building. The Oceanium's accessibility is variable: the 'landscape' is accessible 24 hours a day, cer-tain areas of the lobby are flexibly accessible and the opening hours of the exhibition rooms depend on the exhibition currently running. The internal pedestrian route starts in the existing warehouse. Coming down the stairs, visitors find themselves in the watery world of the Baltic Sea and North Sea aquaria. A 106-metre aquarium wall forms the backdrop for four different water sculptures, giving the visitor the feeling of being entirely surrounded by water.
