'Beurstraverse' shopping precinct, Rotterdam
The Beursplein project is an accumulation of different components. The most important part is the 'Beurstraverse' arcade, a submerged walkway and shopping arcade that continues under the main traffic artery of the Coolsingel and interconnects two existing shopping areas: the Hoogstraat and the Lijnbaan. The entrances to the Beursplein metro station are integrated in the underground section of the shopping street. The arcade also connects with a block on the south side of the Beursplein, where there are department stores, a shopping mall, a car park and a residential tower.
