Eusebiushof, GEWAB-site, Arnhem
For the redevelopment of the centrally located precincts of the former Arnhem Municipal Water Board de Architekten Cie. has designed the Eusebiushof in association with Royal Haskoning Architecten. The plan reinstates the urban fabric along the Eusebiusbuitensingel and the Westervoortsedijk and comprises commercial offices, retail, and an underground car park.
The new building is closely attuned to the existing council offices; the municipality now occupies a significant portion of Eusebiushof. Three courtyards interconnects old and new, each of them distinctive in character: a delivery yard, a courtyard garden, and an entrance courtyard. Access to the high-rise and the lower wings lead off from this open-air foyer. In their materialization, the various sections of the complex combine into a captivating and harmonious composition that does true justice to the ensemble’s landmark presence within the cityscape.
