Reinier de Graaf Hospital, Delft
The hospital’s users, both patients and staff, are pivotal in this design. Besides meeting all the programmatic requirements, the building is also a pleasant place in which to spend time. It has a serene and solid personality that makes it an ideal place to work and to recuperate. It is simultaneously a truly urban structure that is highly open and transparent to the environs. A great deal of thought was devoted to the design of the internal public space. The building is composed of a series of three architectural volumes with spacious courtyards. These public courtyards are interconnected and are accessible from various sides.
