Master Plan for Zuidas, Amsterdam
Amsterdam’s Zuidas (South Axis) is a hyper-urban hub that is currently under development at a top-flight international location close by Schiphol Airport. The main themes in the master plan are the high densities, the mix of functions, 24-hour urban dynamic and the multiple use of space. High-density development is achieved by building above and below the ground. The multifunctional programming includes offices, dwellings, shops, restaurants, schools, recreation facilities and infrastructure. Mobility is the driving force of this innovative urbanity. An impressive infrastructural interchange, where various modes of public transport overlap, will be channelled underground, as will the motorway.
