Municipal Offices, Enschede

Transparency, openness and the interaction between interior and exterior express the public character of Enschede’s Municipal Offices. The 10-metre-high entrance hall gives access to a continuous public zone that interconnects the station and the city centre. The substantial indentations into the architectural volume and the three courtyard terraces open up plenty of sightlines between interior and exterior. The large bay windows overlooking the street and the double-glazed curtain wall overlooking the station also increase the contact between the building and the city.
